How To Host Amazing, Last Minute Rooftop Parties This Summer
As I’ve grown into adulthood, I’ve come to realize that the best, most unforgettable memories, the ones that make you feel most alive, happen unexpectedly with great company. You don’t have to plan anything extravagant, you just have to get the real ones together to connect and celebrate life. So in hopes of inspiring you to plan more good times for you and your friends this summer, I am going to show you how to host amazing, last minute rooftop parties in 5 easy steps.
P.S. These steps apply to hosting all types of summer parties, not solely rooftop parties.
OK, so… How to host amazing, last minute rooftop parties this summer
Step 1: Find The Venue
This is either the easiest or most difficult part of planning a party and it really depends on where you live and how many people you plan on inviting. Joe and I are lucky to have a rooftop with grills on our building, but if we didn’t, then I’d just ask friends with rooftops or backyards. You can also research online to find a venue, rent a house, or visit public parks and the beach which are just as nice.
Step 2: Drinks & Food
Drinks
Refreshing drinks, such as our all-time favorite Dr Pepper, are crucial. Nothing beats that first sip of ice cold goodness when you crack open the one you crave – Dr. Pepper #PickYourPepper all summer long and shop the fun, unique, individualized Pick Your Pepper packaging which was designed by millennials, for millennials.
When you buy Dr Pepper between 6/15-8/15 this summer at #Walmart, you can upload your receipt here to get the prizes below:
- Spend $5 get 5 bottles = Dr Pepper Retro Specs
- Spend $10 get 10 bottles = Dr Pepper Copper Lined Mug
- Spend $20 get 20 bottles = Dr Pepper Bluetooth Speakers
- Spend $30 get 30 bottles = Dr Pepper Pool Float
Food
The type of food you choose to have depends on the crowd and size. You can either do a classic BBQ with hot dogs & hamburgers, mix it up with something different, or get catering. Whatever floats your boat. Speaking of floats, I highly recommend Dr Pepper floats to spice things up a bit. They’re such a great summer dessert.
Step 3: Invite Everyone
Either make a Facebook event, use Evite, or just group text everyone. A great thing about technology is you can connect with everyone instantly, so may as well use it to your convenience:)
Step 4: Music Playlist
Creating the right playlist is crucial because music really sets the vibe. I made an upbeat summer playlist with all newer songs from 2018 that you can use here. But if you want something with more classics, you can easily find other upbeat, summer vibe stations on Spotify or Soundcloud.
Step 5: Decor
This is the least important of the steps, but again it depends on your party. If you’re throwing a rooftop party, then get some cute lights, paper plates, etc. For a pool party get some cool pool floaties to enjoy. If heading out to the beach, maybe bring some marshmallow sticks to make s’mores around the bonfire. Just create a chill atmosphere.
