What New York Fashion Week Is Really Like For Bloggers

I get asked about NYFW a lot. Many people want to know what New York Fashion Week is really like for bloggers and if it’s worth going to. I want to start off by saying that going to NYFW is not necessary to be a successful blogger/content creator/influencer. Sure, it’s great for networking, meeting new people, and attending events, but typically it’s just expensive, time consuming, and tiring to be completely honest.

I remember my first NY fashion week when I lived in NYC, I thought I had to go to all of the shows. I packed as much as I could into that week, barely sleeping. Woke up, got ready, attended shows, had my picture taken, events, parties, repeat. My goal was to have my photo taken for big magazines and to be featured on their websites, but when that happened, it was a lot less satisfying than I imagined it would be. Because guess what? Those photos don’t pay your bills. Now as I’ve grown as a content creator, my schedule is much more packed with things that do bring in money and aren’t as time consuming. Because at the end of the day, time is money.

What New York Fashion Week Is Really Like For Bloggers

However, I did attend this past NYFW for a few days to work/play and I have to say it was amazing. Ava and I had such a fun time, but that’s because we weren’t stressed about making every show. We were selective with events we attended and went at our own pace. If it rained, we skipped the show. If we were sleepy, we slept in. We spent our time meeting up with old friends, making new ones, creating content for brands/working, and enjoying the city. I loved it. Hair, makeup, outfits, etc. A lot goes into getting cute, but let’s be real – playing dress up is always fun.

I’m always creating content. We stayed at the St. Regis so it was a beautiful place for photos.

Events, parties, shows, repeat

I love the events during NYFW because that’s when everyone can really let loose and have a good time. My favorite party this year was at Socialista – such a cool vibe.
