How To Style A Long Eggplant Velvet Dress
Velvet might be my second favorite material after silk because it’s just so cozy and soft. This long eggplant velvet dress is a piece I didn’t think I could pull off, but here we are. I think I was inspired by the red wine which is conveniently pretty much the same color as the dress, which means if I spill on myself, it’s really no biggie. Life hack. Which brings me to today’s topic: how to style a long eggplant velvet dress.
To turn this dress into a night outfit, I threw on this mesh kimono duster with a cool floral print, grabbed this small bag from the Who What Wear Collection, put on my sparkly booties, and voila. Ready for wine night. I’ve been experimenting with my style for as long as I can remember, and one of the only things I haven’t changed my mind about, is that having black staple items in my closet is always useful and cuts out a lot of time trying to match pieces that just aren’t going to coordinate cohesively.
Velvet dresses haven’t been on my radar for years, but during these winter months I am loving everything velvet. To me velvet feels nostalgic. Velvet reminds me of the dresses my mom used to make me wear to Christmas Eve mass and cotillion. I’m just really having a velvet moment right now.
