This Is The Best Kyoto Day Trip! Nara, Japan Deer Park
Honestly, this was one of the best days of my life. Nara Japan Deer Park is one of the most magical places in the world and is definitely worth experiencing if you go to Japan. You may have already seen the silly video I made where I was running around with the deer, but here are some photos and a proper write up and guide for you.
We finally got our disposable camera film developed! This was the first time I forgot the battery for my camera, but it ended up working out for the best because I love the way film looks. Highly recommend bringing along a film camera for this magical place.
Nara Japan Deer Park TIPS
Some useful tips for you when you go:
- When you enter Nara Japan Deer Park, go to the right until you find this area pictured below. Then keep going right to the open field. The whole vibe and deer in this area were the best because there weren’t many people and the area was more well kept.
- Make sure you buy at least 3 sets of cookies. I think we bought around 5, but I could have spent all day feeding the deer here because they’re all so cute! *Oprah voice* You get a cookie! You get a cookie! You get a cookie!
- Go in late March, April or May because the weather is the best. We went the last week of February because it was my birthday, but next time I would go after it got a little bit warmer.
- After you’ve fed all the deer, which there are currently about 1,000, head on over to check out the temples and pond to the left of the entrance.
Nara is just an easy train ride away from Kyoto making this the best day trip ever! I liked being based in Kyoto for a few days because it was so easy to pop around and see so many places in Japan via the train. After Nara we went to check out Osaka, and then back to Kyoto, all in a day. I’m working on more Japan guides now but in the meantime…
