3 Ways You Can Use Social Media In A POSITIVE Way
The way we use social media has drastically changed today’s culture for good and bad – all depending on how you utilize it. The cons of social media are well-documented. It can be addictive, toxic, bad for self-esteem, and the list goes on. However, I truly believe that social media is something so beautiful and powerful when used the right way.
Social media has done so much good for our generation! It’s helped spread awareness on important topics like climate change, raise billions of dollars for important organizations such as global disaster natural disaster reliefs, and connect countless people from across the world. It can enhance your life in multiple ways with the right approach.
Social media has changed my life for the best so I want to share some ways that you can use social media in a positive way too. Keep scrolling for my 3 ways that you can use social media in a positive way.
3 Ways You Can Use Social Media In A POSITIVE Way
1. Use social media for inspiration
I’m inspired by so many other creators in several ways, but especially when it comes to travel. I’m constantly learning about & saving new places to add to my travel bucket list. ✈️ You can also find fashion, beauty, quotes, home decor, wedding inspiration, etc. There’s endless inspiration out there, you just have to look for it and find the right accounts to follow. I actually use social media to find hotels when traveling because you can find honest reviews from people who have previously been. A hotel’s website might look much different than it does in person so it’s nice to check online and make sure beforehand.
2. To keep in touch with friends, family, and colleagues.
It’s easier than ever now to stay in touch with others no matter where you are in the world. 🌍 I love being able to talk to my family and friends from anywhere. I actually got to meet up with my cousin in Bali because we saw via Instagram that we were there at the same time and he was actually staying just down the street! Without Instagram we wouldn’t have known until the next family get-together. I also keep in touch with people I work with or don’t get to see as much which is awesome.
3. To network & meet new people who have similar interests!
I’ve met numerous inspiring people through social media. Meet new people, create together, support each other, and keep in touch. Social media is great for community. So even if you live somewhere and feel alone, you can have this online community who is there for you. Whenever I travel I reach out to other creatives in the area and I’ve created so much epic content with them! One of my favorites that I still talk to almost everyday is @adventuresofblondie who I met in Bali. We made this epic video together. We are also planning on traveling together in the future to make more epic content and work with brands. All because I found her via Instagram.
Conclusion
Overall, I think social media has done more good than bad. Of course I’ve gone through times where I was turned off by it, but you have to realize that you can control what you consume and how you react to it. Follow accounts that are inspiring to you. Unfollow or mute accounts that don’t. Look inward to see how you’re really feeling about certain things. Set a timer if you’re spending too much time on it. And try not to be on social media when spending time with others. You should make an effort to be present and not let life’s moments pass you by.
Social media itself as a whole is controversial. But it’s not all drama and controversy. It has plenty of positive uses for good purposes. I hope you enjoyed this post!
