But first, lemme take a museum #selfie.

Me, being a ham.

Meet Danielle, the middle child. She’s my other favorite.

The Bean! Or Cloud Gate Park.

Meet my daddio. The man behind the inspirational quotes. And the reason my expectations for men are so high.

I decided to slowly start introducing you to my family. Why? Because they are flipping awesome and I don’t know what I would do without them. Family is really the only constant we ever have until we’re married and have our own little family. (God I sound so Italian.) And plus it’s my blog and I’ll write about what I want to… Last week I went into Victoria Secret’s headquarters  (and yes they are absolutely amazing) for an interview and they asked me “What do you think makes your blog stand out from others?” Well I took some time to think about it and I think my honesty and openness about everything along with my versatility and independence is what sets me apart from all the other fashion bloggers. I choose to not solely write about fashion and street style because I feel if someone wants only street style they can go to or Chictopia. I like to write about events, music, interesting people, travel, cultures, experiences and various inspirations. There is so much more to life than clothes- so much more depth. Another student emailed me this week and interviewed me for her thesis project on the impact of social media on younger individuals. I loved answering these questions because it made me think about why I do what I do and how it actually influences young individuals globally. Everything on the internet is going to influence someone in one way or another and you learn that you cannot believe everything you read. Don’t let the internet tell you what to be, but rather take from the internet what you want and create yourself. I think younger individuals are starting to see that they can be whoever they want to be and they don’t have to follow this specific path. And I think it is awesome.

It is important to boost the self-esteem of the younger generation growing up right now-not put pressure on them that they have to be these perfect little humans. They are fortunate to have access to so many more role models and inspirations. If you follow Beyonce and are on Instagram you know that she has influenced an #IWokeUpLikeThis hashtag that is promoting less make up and more natural beauty. I am a huge fan of the movement and just did a make up free shoot this past weekend in Central Park to partake. I also think it is important to teach young women that they should never do anything for the attention of men, but rather do things for themselves. Wear what you want, act how you want, set expectations and don’t settle for less. Life is so short I think we should live our lives the way we had imagined and don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise. If you want to achieve certain dreams, don’t stop until you achieve them and don’t let men get in the way because for the most part they are temporary. So unless he’s marriage material, keep in mind that you need to really focus on your dreams. And same to you, men. Stay focused and determined so that when you find the right woman, you are happy with your career and life in general. (Sorry for the preaching’, but hey it is Sunday.)

ANYWAYS. Back to Chitown and my family. We all met up in Chicago last week to tour colleges for my little sister Marissa. The first day we arrived we toured the Art Institute of Chicago. Well Danielle and I walked in to see the gallery and then went to go get coffee and shop but Marissa and the parentals toured it. The art was cool but we later went to the actual museum-Art Institute of Chicago-and it was AWESOME. We had so much fun running around and seeing all the cool pieces. My personal favorite was of course Andy Warhol’s. I’ve always loved his eclectic style.

On family trips, or actually anytime I travel with someone, I am always the organizer and planner. So naturally I created our itinerary and yes I usually print it out for everyone. The next stop on our list was to go to Cloud Gate Park aka ‘The Bean” which is right across the street from the museum. We had a lot of fun here watching all the tourists and then being hams ourselves. Such a great experience. More posts to follow soon!

Inspiration of the day:

“You can accomplish anything if you’re willing to pay the price”

— Vince Lombardi

“I don’t think there’s any such thing as setting your goals too high. The higher you set your goals, the more you are going to work. If you don’t reach them, then it’s okay, just as long as you set it and then give 100% of yourself.”

— Dan Jansen

“It has been my observation that most people get ahead during the time that others waste time.”

— Henry Ford
